Aussie Bird Count: Join the Nationwide Bird Survey
The Aussie Bird Count, developed by BirdLife Australia, is a free app that allows you to participate in one of Australia's largest citizen science surveys. The app gives you the opportunity to join thousands of people in getting to know your local birds and helping to discover how our birds are faring.
To participate, simply sign up with your name and email address, select your location on the map, and start counting. The app also includes a Field Guide to help you identify birds. While the Field Guide holds just under 400 species of the around 800 species of birds in Australia, it still provides a great resource for identifying birds.
The survey takes place for one week each year near the end of October, as part of National Bird Week. However, you can still use the Field Guide year-round to learn more about your feathered friends.
